Met the Neuro Team

A New Approach

As the largest neuroscience program in the state, the Wyoming Neuroscience and Spine Institute consistently provides patients with state-of-the-art diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care, all in a setting close to home. Our exceptional team of physicians and specially certified registered nurses and staff make this full range of services possible.

Wyoming Medical Center's Regional Referral Center meets the statewide healthcare community's need for a single point of contact, assisting with on-site patient care and arranging for transfer to WMC or the nearest appropriate facility, if necessary. The hospital's emergency-room physicians work with our team to develop pathways that help move trauma and critically ill patients through diagnosis and treatment quickly yet effectively.

Diagnosis

Our diagnostic team handles a variety of tests, from standard MRI’s to delicate procedures that require highly specialized technicians. The recent addition of Wyoming’s first 64-slice CT scanner exemplifies our commitment to staying on the cutting edge of technology in order to achieve the most accurate diagnosis possible, paving the way to successful treatment.

Treatment

The Institute ’s staff, responsible for more than 700 brain and spinal surgeries each year, has taken advantage of medical breakthroughs to provide the highest quality medical care. Wyoming’s first Stealth Station System allows our neurosurgeons to perform sensitive operations in the cranium and spine in a more accurate, less invasive manner and with less patient trauma. Our specialists use intra-arterial thrombolysis to save the lives and aid the recovery of stroke victims and deep-brain stimulation to control Essential Tremors and Parkinson’s disease. Epilepsy patients receive long-term monitoring at our epilepsy center, and we have comprehensive programs tailored around the latest information on stroke and multiple sclerosis management.

Our neurologists, as specialists in the diagnosis, treatment and management of central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, brain injuries and movement problems, collaborate with primary physicians to provide patients with the latest possible treatment options.

Follow-up treatment

Recognizing that follow-up care plays a vital role in the recovery process, we offer physical, occupational and speech therapies and carefully crafted education, rehabilitation and support services to meet the individual needs of our patients and their families. For patients who require more intensive therapy, we offer a specially designed in-patient rehabilitation unit to help return them to their previous level of function.

Total care

Only a handful of hospitals throughout the Rocky Mountain region provide such a high level of medical expertise. At the same time, we believe ensuring our patients’ mental and emotional comfort is just as critical. If you have come to the Wyoming Neuroscience and Spine Institute for care, it is important for you to know that we will tailor our education package to teach you and your family about every aspect of your diagnosis and treatment, allowing you to take a more active role. If you are curious about something, or we haven’t explained a procedure to your satisfaction, please let us know.
